Handling documents is a regular part of website development. The File functions within HotDog Pro ensure that this is done as efficiently as possible and include such features as:

saving documents as templates, text files, HTML, CSS, ASP, VBScript, JavaScript and PHP documents;

The ability to edit your webpages easily is crucial to productive website development. Within HotDog Pro we have created an enormous number of features to assist you in this. Among these, the toolbar and menu Edit functions cover the most basic features, including:
undoing/redoing up to 300 actions;
cutting, clearing and copying;
pasting, including pasting into a generated table and smart pasting;
finding and replacing;
selecting;
spell checking and word suggestions using HotDog Pro's built-in thesaurus;
Accessibility checking dialog that checks your current HTML page and provides a list of Accessibility errors. Double-clicking any error will open the appropriate HotDog dialog to allow you to quickly and easily add the accessibility fields missing from the selected HTML element.
editing all your HotDog preferences, including the appearance and functionality of your environment and editing window; the internal preview (ROVER) and browser settings; dictionaries; and your directory, publishing and server settings.
During webpage development, authors frequently need to insert a variety of objects into their documents. The Insert functions within HotDog Pro bring up dialogs that help you to quickly and correctly insert objects into your webpages. From the Insert menu/toolbar you can call up the following dialogs and wizards:
Insert Image: This dialog allows you to specify the image you wish to insert, specify advanced image properties (including Accessibility information), or run the Image Wizard (for beginner's who want you step-by-step guide to inserting images properly).
Insert Hyperlink: This dialog makes it easy for you to create anchors/links within your document, specify targets and frame targets as well as including Accessibility information.
Insert Target ID: This dialog allows you to specify anchors or jump points within your document, so that you can link to different parts of your document from any hyperlink.
Insert Horizontal Rule: This dialog allows you to specify the properties of a horizontal rule that you wish to insert into your document.
Insert List and Insert Definition List: These dialogs allow you to specify the properties of lists that you wish to insert into your document.
Embed Item: Using this dialog, you can specify the object that you wish to embed and specify the object dimensions.
Insert Image Thumbnail Table: This wizard guides you step-by-step through the involved process of creating and inserting an image thumbnail table. Using this wizard allows you to quickly browse directories for images, animations and sounds.
Add Publish Field: This useful little wizard shows you how to add publish fields to your webpages or templates.
The Insert functions also allow you to easily insert Comment tags, add special fields (such as the date/time) and insert a HotDog link into your webpages.
Every webmaster knows that it's important to be able specify the tools that you need whilst developing your websites and also to remove any unnecessary tools so that you can prevent clutter. The View functions within HotDog Pro allow you to do all this, including:
selecting resource panels to open/close, including opening/closing pre-set resource panel configurations;
customizing toolbars and restoring the toolbar default settings;
running the Multimedia Manager, which allows you to preview and insert media files as well as run the Insert Image Thumbnail wizard (this wizard guides you step-by-step through the involved process of creating and inserting an image thumbnail table);
viewing all fixed and user-defined function, tag and macro shortcuts ;
hiding/displaying ROVER and the ROVER ruler.
The ability to format your documents is pivotal to website optimization. The Format functions within HotDog Pro have been designed so that you can optimize your webpages both creatively and productively. They include:
selecting your own color palette and customizing colors;
quick insertion of color code specification into your webpage;
formatting document properties - including selecting a style sheet, changing the colors of the text and links, adding a background color or background image and determining the size of your document (including images) and how long it would take to download under different modem speeds;
formatting document information - including specifying meta tags, keyword properties, author/description information, document distribution and redirection;
using DHTML to dynamically animate objects on your webpage;
character and paragraph formatting;
converting absolute addresses to relative addresses (and vice versa) simply by selecting the URL you wish to convert;
removing carriage returns and stripping tags within documents;
file format, extended character, letter casing, table and list conversions;
replacing backslashes with forward slashes in your code - that is, replacing \ with /;
calculating image dimensions;
publishing.
Tables are used in almost every well-designed webpage that you will come across today. The Table functions within HotDog Pro make using tables in your webpages simple and include:
the Table Wizard that makes creating complex tables a cinch;
a Quick Table feature that makes it easy for you to quickly create tables;
Frames are a useful way of presenting toolbars on your webpages. The Frame functions within HotDog Pro include:
the Frame Wizard that guides you through the often confusing process of creating webpage frames (includes Accessibility features);
inserting frameset, frame and noframes code.
Forms are used when authors want specific information from visitors to their website. The Form functions within HotDog Pro include:
the Form Wizard that enables you to construct forms easily;
quick insertion of form elements into your webpage, including checkboxes; textboxes; file elements; hidden and password fields; radio, push, reset and submit buttons; text areas, lists and images.

The development of SuperToolz is what makes HotDog Pro so flexible. SuperToolz are plug-in programs that you can use to work in conjunction with HotDog Pro. SuperToolz allow for an unlimited extension of HotDog's functionality, while at the same time giving users the ability to pick and choose the functionality they want to include in HotDog Pro. You can either add your own programs to use with HotDog Pro (just select Create SuperToolz... in the menu) or you can use one of the fantastic SuperToolz created By Sausage. Sausage Software provides 24 supertoolz; 4 are freely available to all customers, 6 are third party SuperToolz (that is, they are developed and supported by other companies) and 14 regular Sausage SuperToolz. Seventeen of our supertoolz are included in our great Supertoolz Value Pack. For your convenience, every Sausage SuperTool can be downloaded, purchased (if not free), maintained and updated via the Internet from within HotDog Pro. Simply by selecting Download SuperToolz... in the menu, HotDog Pro will take you to our Autodownloader so that you can download and install your chosen SuperToolz or SuperToolz updates, ready to use immediately and with no fuss. The AutoDownloader helps you keep in contact with Sausage Software and lets us give you the latest updates on the software we make. As well as plug-in programs, HotDog can even upgrade itself (if the upgrade has been released) using the SuperTool architecture. This includes shell upgrades and HTML syntax files. Even the AutoDownloader itself can be upgraded. When you start the AutoDownloader, your default Internet Browser is started, loading the Autdownloader webpage. The Sausage SuperToolz include website design utilities, image manipulation tools, animation/special effects, video/audio tools, website enhancement tools, download utilities and search engine tools. Similar to the Quick Color button in the Format toolbar, the Custom Colors toolbar allows you to quickly insert common color code specifications into your webpage, with the added advantage that you can more immediately view each color.
Quick document-navigation improves your the efficiency and productivity of website development. The Navigation toolbar complements HotDog Pro's new Navigation Viewer resource panel. Within the document that you're editing, the Navigation toolbar allows you to quickly:
navigate to bookmarks;
navigate to selected line numbers;
find matching characters;
go to the top, bottom, head or body of your document;
go to the previous/next tag;
go to the previous/next error.
